The famous Cretan costume is still worn in some Cretan villages as everyday clothing for men. The white boots, known as "Stivania," complete the outfit. The traditional costume was richly embroidered in dark blue or black and always included a silver knife and a scarf. One of the most popular accessories in Cretan folk clothing is the knife, which adds a truly authentic touch.
